Wish I Had Glasses Like Rosa / Quisiera tener lentes como Rosa
(Bilingual edition)
by Kathryn Heling and Deborah Hembrook
Illustrated by Bonnie Adamson
Translated by Eida de la Vega
Abby's friend, Rosa, wears glasses, and Abby thinks they make her look so beautiful. She thinks that if she had
glasses she would be as beautiful as Rosa. They both wear special glasses for some things, like safety glasses
for building and goggles for swimming. But Abby wants everyday glasses, and she comes up with several innovative
ways to get glasses of her own, from making them out of clay, to borrowing Grandma's glasses. Nothing works very
well. Abby realizes by the end of the book that she is unique, that there are things about her that Rosa wishes
she had, and what Abby might dislike about herself is just the thing someone else envies.
This captivating book is illustrated by soft watercolor pictures of the two girls showing all their activities
with great humor. It is a full-text English / Spanish translation -English at the top of the page and Spanish on
the bottom half, separated by a cute bug illustration. A bilingual vocabulary page in English and Spanish is
included to help readers learn keywords in either language. A good choice for home school or early learning
bi-lingual classes, and a fun introduction to either language. |
