Pinata
By Rebecca Emberley

This beautiful bilingual book is steeped in Hispanic tradition with bright, primary color, mixed-media collage illustrations. The book begins with an exciting history of the pinata, and ends with instructions to make a pinata for your next fiesta.

The story tells what kind of treats and toys go into the pinata and follows up with a quiz to name all the things in it, in both languages.

This book is ideal for teaching children either beginning Spanish or English in a stimulating way. What a wonderful introduction to a second language for your little ones!  Take turns reading the story and challenge each other with new words. I did feel that a guide to pronunciation might be helpful to parents, but children quickly learn to read both English and Spanish in this lively text.
