This Truck
By Paul Collicutt
In “This Truck,”
Collicutt brings little readers a boldly-colored display of trucks
- little ones, big ones and enormous ones. Page after page, little
readers are introduced to various trucks at work. There’s
a truck that carries a rocket. There are trucks with cranes. There
is a truck that sweeps the street, and one that travels in a convoy.
Each one is different and does a special job. No matter the size
of the truck or the job it does, the little ones will gasp in delight
at the sight of each one.
And for
those with a grown-up obsession for trucks, Collicutt includes drawings
on the inside covers of history’s most popular trucks, such
as the Ford Model T fire engine (USA, 1919), the Morris Royal Mail
van (U.K., 1946), Labatt’s Streamliner (Canada, 1948), and
Volkswagen Model 261 (Germany, 1960).
It’s
a wonderful nonfiction book for both grownups and kids alike.
