another ABC concept book, but this board book is definitely
for an older child. Although all the letters of the alphabet
are presented here, the book's pages are very busy and the
text, although limited, would be more appropriate for a youngster
at least three or four years of age.
When you open the first page you'll meet the alphabet peas
who will be your guides for the rest of the book. "We're
acrobats, artists and astronauts in space." Along with
a big "A" you'll find a number of little green peas
engaged in these professions. The "D" page is even
more chaotic with scores of dancing and driving peas cavorting
and driving a wide range of vehicles all over an elevated
road that wraps around the featured letter.
Some pages feature only one letter while others squeeze as
many as three letters onto the page. The featured peas range
from farmers, hikers and kayakers to plumbers, swimmers, underwater
divers, weavers and zoologists.
Because the pea illustrations are rather small and each page
has so much happening on it, only an older child will really
appreciate the humor and the detail that has gone into creating
this board book.
