What an amazing story about how a man who lost his loving wife to cancer moves on with his social life, family, and career.  Bill has had to deal with his own bouts of cancer and has to continuously go for check-ups. After his wife Hilda's death, Bill goes to a couple of survivor meetings and becomes friends with Mike and Lannie who are coordinators of the survivor groups at a hospital.  Bill is hesitant about going to the meetings but ends up wanting to share much of his time with Lannie. With Lannie's help, Bill got a position to update the hospital's newsletter and flyers.  Bill only takes the job so he can remain close to Lannie.

Throughout the story, Bill is afraid to fully show his feelings to Lannie because of his wife's death.  Bill is also hesitant in moving on with his life because he isn't sure if he could move on without his wife. Mr. Hartzell does an extraordinary job in telling this precious and touching story.  The story moves very smoothly and the reader feels for Bill and his adjustment back to a "normal" life.  The plot is very realistic and the reader does not question the likelihood of the situations.
