Twilly Spree, a millionaire eco-terrorist, first spotted Palmer Stoat tossing fast food litter out of his car window. Bent on revenge, he follows Stoat to his home. Palmer's car comes down with a dung beetle plague, and his Labrador retriever swallows the glass eyes that a mysterious burglar has pried out of Palmer's mounted hunting trophies. Then when Twilly takes off with Palmer's wife, Desie, and kidnaps the retriever, Boodle, the chase is on. Florida denizens that are after them include the Governor, the human bulldozer Krimmler, cocaine importer/developer Clapley and a Hit Man with strange desires. Desie finds herself falling for the kidnapper, and urges him not to kill any litterbugs or other environmental scoundrels.

Hiaasen's characters are a batch of misfits and weirdoes that will keep you laughing throughout the book. Ex-Florida governor, Clinton "Skink" Tyree, Hiaasen's original eco-terrorist returns in this story, complete with a new glass eye; this one is red. What he does to the present Governor is proof that Hiaasen's imagination knows no bounds.

I should warn you...Hiaasen could become an addiction. His books are delightful entertainment. Colorful descriptions, the powerful ecological plea, the difficulty of sorting the bad guys from the good guys, and the fast pace of one adventure right after another will keep you turning the pages and laughing out loud far into the night.
