Aloha and Mai Tais begins with the staff of a hotel looking for new and improved entertainment. Several people show up for the audition and each one has their own unique style. Enter Kimi, Teri'I, Ito, and Felice, who decide that they want to be entertainers. The rest of the story shows their lives together, involving marriage and the dramatic experiences at Pearl Harbor.

"Aloha and Mai Tais" is entertaining and makes the reader wish that they were in Hawaii. Author Patterson makes the reader feel that they are a part of the characters' lives. Some of the plot does not seem realistic for this day and age but considering that the story is taking place in the 1930's and 1940's, it could have very well happen.

"Aloha and Mai Tais" shows us how it must have been when Pearl Harbor was attacked, how chaotic everyone's life became and how some of them had to make the big decision of entering the War or not.
