I'm positive each of us has at one time or another thought we had problems, then actually encountered a life-altering ordeal and wished we could go back to that more simplistic time. Such is life for Diana Moore, the main character in Kathleen DeMarco's Cranberry Queen.

Still reeling from a severed relationship with "the monster," Diana is fretting over the possibility of seeing her ex at a wedding the next day. She is absorbed with the breakup, and the fact that she is still alone, while he has moved on.

The dreaded day arrives, but instead of facing the monster and his new girlfriend, Diana's heartstrings are severed in a different manner. Tormented by a horrible tragedy, she abruptly leaves New York City and ends up in the Pine Barrens, a rural area of New Jersey. Diana tells no one of her past, but finds herself unable to escape its harsh reality.

DeMarco's characters are full of fun and intrigue, and the landscape is described in such vivid detail you feel as if you can taste the Cranberries. Cranberry Queen delves into the innermost feelings of love and loss; misery and hope. You'll trail Diana through every tunnel of despair, and find yourself holding on for dear life as she races through this journey in her life.
