"Second Opinion" is a lively story surrounding the town of Dogwood Springs, Missouri. Its hospital employs two of the main characters, Lauren McCaffrey, an experienced ER nurse, and Dr. Grant Sheldon, the chief ER physician. Lauren has come to Dogwood Springs to escape the expectations her family has set for her regarding marriage. Dr. Sheldon has recently transferred after the death of his wife, and is looking for a small-town environment for his sixteen-year-old twins.

Through the everyday life of this local hospital, "Second Opinion" introduces you to Gina, a young mother plagued with bouts of memory loss, Evan, a young boy who experiments with drugs, his divorced parents, and Lauren's pastor, Archer Pierce.

Archer is the spiritual cog connecting the ever-turning wheel of this small community. Full of self-doubt but a love for God's people, he serves as Chaplin at the hospital as well as moderator of a weekly drug awareness class. During these classes, Archer realizes that although Dogwood Springs is a small community, it's in danger of losing its youth to drugs.

On top of all this, a mysterious illness threatens the lives of the people in Dogwood Springs and Doctor Sheldon must face his own spiritual battles while he and Nurse Lauren try to find out the source of this epidemic.

"Second Opinion" encourages the reader with a story of faith, love, small-town community, and exciting emergency room drama.

Hannah Alexander is the pen name for the writing collaboration of Cheryl and Melvin Hoddle. Melvin's real life experience as an ER physician is evident in the easily understood dialogue, which enhances the storyline and talent of this duo.
