The Dry Well
By Dawn Lyons

The Dry Well takes a hard-core look at a single mother's struggle to overcome a hideous crime: rape. The reader is introduced to Julia, a hardworking, caring woman suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Ms. Lyons does an amazing job a displaying Julia before and after the incident.

The reader feels for Julia and is taken through every stage of someone trying to overcome and remain strong after a major emotional incident. The plot is true to the incident and Julia's personal growth. It doesn't jump around like other books of this nature and the reader is not lost as to what is happening and when. Ms. Lyons' display of a rape victim seems so upfront that it adds to the strength of the book. Fifty percent of the sale of this book will be used to help rape victims.
