Dying
in the City of Flowers
By Victoria
Edwards Tester
This
story introduces the reader to Viola, a woman who will do just about
anything to save herself and her child. Based on a true story, the
novel traces the despair Viola goes through as she leaves her abusive
Peruvian husband, then attempts to find her lost son who was taken
by his father.
This
is a very compelling story. Viola takes great abuse in her efforts
to find happiness. When Viola's son is taken, her hurt and frustration
are palpable. Set in the underdeveloped world, the story rings with
authenticity. Clearly, this novel was based on fact. No fictional
story could arouse the strong feelings that the author does here.
