Magnolia
A
Wilting Flower
By Barbara
J Robinson
Magnolia
was the apple of her father's eye. She was named after the little
town where her Momma and Daddy met. At four-years old she adored
her father and looked forward to every moment that he spent with
her. When her father died her whole world is drastically changed.
"Magnolia,
A Wilting Flower" is this little girl's story. It covers the
death of her beloved father and how she must learn to cope with
that loss. The reader also sees how she handles her mother's remarriage
and the angst of beginning school.
Magnolia's
family is rather poor and we see the struggles she encounters because
of her poverty.
Her
family moves from rental house to rental house always in a poor
section of town.
Christmas is often a sad affair with the children receiving very
little and Magnolia pining away for a proper Christmas tree. When
Magnolia takes matters into her own hands she learns a bit more
about life and creates a heartwarming solution to her problem.
Barbara
J. Robinson handles this child's story with great candor and heartbreaking
truth.
As
I read about the child's struggle to grow up without the father
she so loved and cherished I ached once more for my own father who
passed away. Not many authors can instill that feeling.
