Second Spring
By Andrew W Greeley

Chucky O'Malley has a thriving career as a professional photographer. He has a loving wife and a wonderful family. With his 50th birthday approaching he suddenly feels as though he is not a success. He is depressed and disillusioned; he's in the grip of a mid-life crisis. He has traveled the world, from the Vatican where the new Pope is to be selected, to the Jimmy Carter White House, trying to find a way to renew his weary spirit. He is fortunate that he is not alone in this struggle. His adoring wife, Rosemarie, brings him love and support, helping him to discover a Second Spring.

The spirit of the times is evidenced in this chronicle of the O'Malleys, depicting the changing and hectic times of the 1960's and 1970's--with Watergate, Vietnam, and subsequent events. The emotional struggle of Chucky is treated with understanding. The love and support of the family is warm and tender. A view of life in Chicago is clear and realistic.
