Sutter’s Cross
By W. Dale Cramer

“Standing out like a horsefly in a punch bowl,” Harley crashes the comfortable Southern picnic held by Sutter’s Cross Community Church. Who is he? Where does he come from? When is he leaving, and aren’t those my pants?

Jake Mahaffey begins keeping a journal because of Harley and the day of the picnic. Although he doesn’t understand why, Jake finds himself drawn to Harley, as does Miss Agnes Dewberry, an elderly citizen of Sutter’s Cross whose land is threatened by development.

A tale of good and evil, understanding and intolerance, Sutter’s Cross will rouse feelings of compassion, as well as indignation. Drawing strong comparisons to Jesus Christ, Cramer gives the reader plenty of food for thought. One would never guess this is his first novel. I'm sure more books will flow from this talented author.
