Tales of Psychology
Short Stories to Make You Wise
By
Alma H. Bond, Ph.D.

This provides a unique look at psychoanalytic psychology. This book could be used in colleges where students are having problems in comprehending psychology concepts. Tales of Psychology contains nineteen short stories from authors ranging from Raymond Carver, Joyce Carol Oates, John Cheever, Willa Cather, to Woody Allen. After each story, Dr. Bond adds her psychoanalytic input on how these stories relate to possible current issues among readers.

The stories that were chosen are insightful and intriguing. They keep the reader entertained. They lead up to conversation and Dr. Bond adds her part of the conversation after each story. It is very clear that Dr. Bond understands the psychoanalytic world and is able to discuss it in an intelligible way that does not leave readers wondering “what is she talking about?” Dr. Bond does not let the reader feel that they are stupid or have no concept of how the story applies to psychology. It allows the reader to get inside Dr. Bond's mind, without having to dig. It provides some insight for readers that some readers might not have thought of while they read the stories.
