Behind Closed Doors
By Susan R. Sloan
Valerie O'Conner was raised
to believe that what happens in the home stays in the home. That
is why, when her husband starts to abuse her, she feels she can't
tell anyone. Valerie fell in love with Jack quickly and they got
married quickly. Unfortunately, what might have seemed romantic
at the time now seems foolish, as she knows nothing of this man
who beats her and then wakes up remorseful. Things grow worse when
they begin to have children, and soon enough their household in
filled with anger and terror. What happens behind these closed doors
is a nightmare for everyone involved and it is only going to get
uglier before it ends.
Behind Closed Doors
is a heartbreaking, realistic look at domestic abuse and the repercussions
that it can cause. I loved this book though. Many times, I had to
stop reading because of my tears. This book made me feel so many
different emotions and Sloan was able to make each and every character
a living. breathing person. With every one of her books, Sloan reminds
me why I love to read. Behind Closed Doors is a page- turner that
is too important not to read.
