Good Grief
By Lolly Winston

Good Grief sucks the reader right into the tragic story of Sophie Stanton. Sophie is a well-liked woman in her small community who suffers the loss of the one person she could turn to no matter what, her spouse. Good Grief tells the story of how Sophie Stanton comes from the depths of depression to overcome and be successful in her life without her husband.

For a debut novel, this is one of the better ones out there. Ms. Winston does a better than average job of making a reader fall in sympathy for a main character. The characterization of Sophie Stanton and her friends who try to help her through her grief is simply fantastic. The characterization is simple yet contains a lot of depth. The reader will go through an array of emotions while reading Good Grief. Some of these go from crying to laughing out loud.

Everyone knows a Sophie Stanton and most have experienced a loss of someone that they have cared about. Good Grief tells a heartfelt story about loss and our one fictional character is able to overcome it and be inspiring to readers.
