The Last of the Honky-Tonk Angels
By Marsha Moyer

Lucy Hatch has never had a complete family. One of her two brothers is supportive, and her vibrant aunt substitutes for her distant mother. She had married, but her deceased husband considered her more a convenience that a wife or lover. Lucy has found a new side of herself in Ash Farrell's arms, but the deeper their relationship grows, the more fearful she becomes.

Ash Farrell's mother gave him up after his father split. When Ash had married, he vowed to do everything he could for his wife and daughter. Unfortunately, everything didn't prove enough and they divorced. In the three months since Lucy moved in with him, he's started believing in forever, but the sudden appearance of his daughter throws them into turmoil.

After enduring more than seven years without a call or a birthday card, Denise Farrell, Ash's daughter, finds herself dumped on his doorstep. Her mother's rejection combined with her father's initial surprise and ongoing ineptitude leave Denny feeling unloved and unwanted.

How these three come to terms with their pasts in order to make a future makes The Last of the Honky-Tonk Angels a fascinating read. Well-developed main characters support the intricately layered plot. Though the story is told alternately between Lucy and Denny's point of view, Ash's evolvement is unquestionable. Secondary characters add depth, humor and conflict; Aunt Dove is a peach and Raz is a sweetheart. The northeast Texas town, complete with the small town gossips, is the perfect setting. Ya'll need to c'mon down to Mooney, Texas and set a spell. Lucy, Denny, and Ash will welcome you with open arms!
