The Sweetest Taboo
By Carole Matthews

Sadie Nelson never expected to fall in love while working at the London book fair. Gil Nelson is a Hollywood producer who notices Sadie while she is working and takes an instant shine to her. They spend one night together and realize that they could have something special. Gil flies Sadie out to live in Hollywood and from there, things go wrong. Sadie and Gil seem to keep miscommunicating and finding things that stand in their way. Then Sadie meets Tavis Jones, a young, hot wannabe actor. Sadie feels a connection with Tavis but she's not sure how he feels and there is also Gil to consider. Sadie must decide between these two men who have come to mean more to her than she ever imagined.

The Sweetest Taboo has many great characters with the exception of Gil. I never warmed up to him and didn't understand why Sadie gave him chance after chance. In my eyes, Matthews didn't build the relationship up enough for me to understand Sadie's motivations. However, Tavis is as close to perfect as you can get. It was his character that made me laugh and feel sorrow. The story moves along at a fast pace and I finished the book quickly. I would read another book by Matthews as long as Gil isn't a recurring character.
