Baker
Towers
By
Jennifer Haigh Read by Anna Fields
Baker
Towers is a Pennsylvania mining town. The area and mine workers
are made up of various cultures. Rose, an Italian, marries a Polish
man who dies and leaves her with five children. Baker Towers is
about Rose, Georgie, Dorothy, Joyce, Lucy, and Sandy, about the
choices they make and the directions their lives take. No two are
alike, and although there are the occasional disagreements, it's
nothing like the exaggerated nonsense seen most times on TV. What's
interesting and touching is how they each find their way home, even
after Rose passes away. The post WW II era and mining town life
adds both drama and emotion to the story. It's a poignant listen
for the literary minded.
The
audio version is read by Anna Fields. It's a perfect literary interpretation.
