Belly
by Lisa Selin Davis
William O'Leary or Belly as he is called has just been released from prison after serving
only four years of his six year sentence, for good behavior. Something Belly knows no one
at home would believe. Belly being good is next to impossible. As Belly proves as he returns
to his hometown Saratoga Springs. However, upon his first glance of the town everything
has changed. Nothing is as it was before. However, this does not deter Belly. Soon he
is living his life as he did before. Women, drinking, and trouble are all things Belly
knows well. Even with his three living daughters wanting him to straighten up and threats
from the parole officer, Belly does not care. It is his life and he wants to live it as
best he can.
On the other hand, will he realize that the old ways are not for him? After all, he
still has three daughters living plus grandchildren he would like to get to know.
Belly is an interesting novel of the mess a man has made of his life. Although given
the chance to straighten it out, he still falls into the same patterns he followed before.
However, it will take Belly facing his past mistakes to get the life he really wants. |
