Dress
Rehearsal
By
Jennifer O'Connell
Lauren
Gallagher is a wedding cake designer with an observation. She can
tell by the choice of a cake which couples are going to make it
and which are destined for divorce court. She keeps her opinions
to herself until Paige, one of her best friends, comes into the
shop with a man who is going to break her heart... according to
cake-selection theory, anyway.
Lauren
has been down this road with her other best friend, Robin. Several
years ago Robin and her fiancé ordered a cake. It foretold
the demise of their marriage. Lauren kept her mouth shut and now
Robin is dealing with a broken heart. Robin insists that Lauren
warn Paige and encourage her to break off the relationship.
Meanwhile,
Lauren has two men she's interested in. Charlie is the brother of
one of her clients. Neil, her ex-boyfriend, just moved back into
town. There is, however, one little problem with Neil. He waltzes
into the shop with his fiancé and asks Lauren to design their
wedding cake. Lauren agrees, but she has an ulterior motive. She
made the mistake of letting him get away once, and now she wants
him back. Maybe... unless she decides to go with Charlie instead!
In addition to being fun, this book
is filled with tantalizing descriptions of wedding cakes. The women
in this story are strong and independent. This book is a very good
example of Chick Lit.
