In Dahlia's Wake

By Yona Zeldis McDonough

Rick and Naomi Wechsler have spent many years together. They've been through college and saw Rick through medical school to become a doctor. After many miscarriages, Naomi finally has a baby girl they name Dahlia. Their little miracle is the center of their lives until a freak accident takes the child's life. This story shows descriptively how one tragic event affects another and how the death of a child sets off a series of events connected to her loss.

Rick and Naomi can't deal with each other. They each search for the answers to their grief with others. Will they find any comfort? Are there any answers to be found? Coping with the death of a child and going through the grieving process is not a path you can plan or direct. As each good and bad decision is made the choice affect others in way they didn't imagine.

In Dahlia's Wake is the aftermath to what happens to parents who lose their child. If you have never lost a child, it will give you insight into the lives of grieving parents. If you have lost a child, this will remind you of the pain we share and how turned around our lives become in the moment that loss happens.
