Miranda's
Vines
By
Kimberly Kafka
Miranda's
Vines is the story of family roots and life in the wine country
of Oregon. Miranda Perry thought she has left this behind her when
she had become a talented chef with hopes of starting her own restaurant.
A death in the family brings her and her son back to her family
home. Will the changes in her life there prevent her from returning
to her old life?
Miranda's
best friend Bridie also goes back to Oregon to help Miranda and
finds she is unable to cope with an accident that forces her to
see things in a new light. Life has a way of changing your hopes
and dreams. Together they can depend on each other and maybe make
a new life out of what's left of the old one.
Initially
I found some inconsistency in facts, such as the statement on the
back cover that the family home has been left to Miranda because
of her grandfather's death, when in fact it is her father who dies.
It was distracting at first, as I tried to figure out where that
came into the story. However, the book began to take me away from
the small errors and into the life of Miranda and her friends and
family, who lean on each other and find a way to continue her father's
dream.
