A
Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror

Moore is the recognized genius of satirical humor, and this may
just be his crowning effort. Sleepy Pine Cove, Calif., is filled
with Christmas spirit. The town is full of tourists looking for
small town Christmas charm.
Lena Marquez has a definite grudge against
her ex-husband, Dale Pearson. On his way home from playing Santa
Claus at the local lodge, Dale, who also has a grudge against Lena,
spots her uprooting his Monterey pines; he pulls a gun, but she
gets the drop on him with a shovel. Seven-year-old Josh Barker,
thinking he's just seen Santa get murdered, prays for a miracle
to save Christmas. The beautifully blond Archangel, Raziel, has
come to Pine Grove on a mission, to grant Josh's wish and revive
the town's recently dead. Raziel, however, isn't especially smart
and reanimated zombies begin to rise and feast on the living, and
a huge El Niño storm swirls. He's botched his mission and
the residents of Pine Cove are pitched into Christmas chaos
This crazy, hilarious story kept me laughing from
the opening sentence. The characters are all unbalanced and eccentric.
Moore has a way with words that keeps you listening closely in fear
of missing a real gem, and there is one in just about every sentence.
This story is a refreshing change and lifted my spirits considerably.
I am a new fan, Christopher Moore!
