Abraham Two-Hill

by Jason Broadwater

Abraham is a drifter who comes to the small community of Two-Hill, located in a cove just outside the large town of Asheville, North Carolina. It is then in the late 19th century. He wished to better himself and manages to tie himself to the Gauldens, an influential family in the community.

After finding a sizable gold nugget in the cove called Two-Hill, Abraham chooses to change his name in honor of this discovery that has allowed him to begin the life he has aspired to. Now known as Abraham Two-Hill, the main character passes back and forth between past and present in an attempt to show how his life has progressed and how he became known as the leader of this growing community.

Two-Hill is a fictional community set just outside the well known town of Asheville, North Carolina. The author, Jason Broadwater, captures the feeling of the area during this time and inspires the reader to continue on with Abraham's life story.

When Two-Hill becomes the town's father figure, we begin to see not only the good but the bad that can come to a man who is revered by so many in such a small area. The reader is taken from the heights of joy to the depths of despair; he is also allowed to witness successes and great loss.

In this first novel, Mr. Broadwater has brought the past and an imaginary community to life. He touches on the gold craze that held the nation in a thrall at the time and the progress that the railroad brought to rural communities. Jason Broadwater is a writer and musician living in North Carolina.
