Finishing Touches

by Deanna Kizis

Finishing Touches, written by Deanna Kizis, my new fav chick-lit author, tells a tale of Jesse Holtz. This book is about losing a close friend through death, almost losing a close friend because of choices that Jesse makes, love and rebound and dealing with life's tribulations. The growth that Jesse experiences is amazing and I don't think I've cared so much about a character in a long time. This well-written book really puts you in the life of Jesse: her past experiences with Cecile (the friend who died), becoming romantically involved with Cecile's widower (an old flame from college), learning to live without her friend, not being in the shadows anymore and fulfilling her own dream of owning her own store.

This story was perfect, Jesse gets the right guy, becomes independent, stands up for herself, all with some heartache and some bumps in the road.
