Lost and Found
by Carolyn Parkhurst
Ever imagine a book based on a reality show? Lost and Found takes several characters and throws them together
for a game show with the same name. Laura attempts to reconnect with her daughter, Cassie, who has barely said anything
to her in several months. Abby and her husband Justin attempt to face their true selves and their marriage. Dallas
and Juliet attempt to recapture their childhood fame.
Lost and Found contains off-the-wall yet "normal" characters that readers are actually interested in. Ms.
Parkhurst has been able to capture the psychological enjoyment of reality television and write a humorous yet caring
novel. The Lost and Found reality show is similar to The Amazing Race, where contestants go all over
the world trying to solve clues. Lost and Found develops interesting twists to the game that keep readers
engaged. The places that the cast of characters go are intriguing and interesting in and of themselves, only
enhanced by the game. The environment is extremely crucial to the game in Lost and Found.
Overall, an enjoyable read, although people who do not like reality shows would not find Lost and Found
that great. Lost and Found should be read by fans of reality shows and by others who are willing to take a
chance on reading a book that is based on a reality show. Lost and Found is more than just a reality show,
it takes an inside look into characters’ insights and their relationships. |
