Tales From the Crib

by Risa Green

Do you want a book that makes you think twice about ever becoming a mom? Choose this one. It was at times painful to read how new mommy Lara Stone is dealing with a newborn, not really loving her, a nanny she is certain is doing voodoo spells on her, a husband who seems to be cheating on her with a 25 year old, and more hang-ups along the way. But if you stick with it, you will see a book that is so real-life that you'll see Lara grow as a mother, wife and friend. She ends up sticking up for herself and her little baby girl, Parker. A new word that I'm now finding myself saying to friends who are mothers a lot is "Mommunists". Love this word! Find out the meaning behind that one.

It is laugh-out-loud funny and makes you want to cry too, from a big huge dose of frustration that Lara experiences one day. Think small child, diarrhea, grocery store and no extra diapers or clothes. If you're not a mom, this book will open your eyes and prepare you for what might happen. If you're a mom, this book might seem like a been-there-done-that or I had it worse (and if you did have it worse, I'm so sorry).

Risa Green has a sharp and witty way of writing. I really loved this book and its characters.
