This book tells the
fantastic, true crime story of Ken Register and his part in the vicious
murder of his childhood friend, Crystal Faye Todd. It is extremely well
written and fast-paced. Dale Hudson and Billy Hills do a great job of
telling the story from a neutral point of view, and of showing how the
little town in South Carolina was deeply affected by this tragic event.
The authors also do
an excellent job of giving the details without boring the reader, as some
true crime novelists do. It is a great debut novel in that it makes the
reader want to know more. Hudson and Hills make the details of the trial
and what happened between the families after the murder very interesting.
The authors also do
an amazing job of showing what the families go through and the legal issues
they continue to face. It is very hard to believe that Ken Register's
family does not believe the hard-core DNA evidence that the prosecutors
presented, and still feel that Ken is innocent.
A great job was done
with this book by Dale Hudson and Billy Hills. If you are a fan of true
crime, or are thinking about getting into it and want a good book to start
with, read An Hour to Kill. You won't be disappointed.
