What a delightful new way to read about true crime! Instead of focusing on the crime and the perpetrator, Billy Hills and Dale Hudson focus more on the surviving victim's life. Wanda Summers was kidnapped, robbed, and shot in the face by Ronald "Rusty" Woomer. She had to go through several surgeries and face many strangers with a deformed face. Luckily, she had a proud husband, Jimmy, to stand by her side.

Billy Hills and Dale Hudson do a great job interjecting what was going on with Rusty's trials and death row appeals with Wanda's trying to face a new life with a deformed face. The coverage of the trials was great and very interesting. They were able to grab the reader from the first page and make the story more interesting as the pages continued.

If you are a fan of Ann Rule and other true crime authors, give Billy Hills and Dale Hudson's "A Reason to Live" a try. It is very interesting, fast-paced, and easy reading without a lot of the gore that is included in a lot of true crime novels.
