The
Big Bing
Black
Holes of Time Management, Gaseous Executive Bodies, Exploding Careers,
and Other Theories on the Origins of the Business Universe
By Stanley
Bing
When
I received The Big Bing, I had not heard of Mr. Bing or read
any of his previous works. I did know this was a business audio
book and took the subtitle as a play on words. I also knew this
book was about one man's climb up the corporate ladder. I expected
it to be all work and no play, so when I popped the first CD in
the player, I worried that it would put my husband to sleep - we
had a long drive ahead of us. Needless to say at the end of a round
trip, we were laughing at a man's plights in the white collar corporate
jungle and nodding at his sound advice.
Bing
certainly tells his story in a male voice ("Protecting Your
Turf," "Going for the Jocular," "In the Zone,"
"YOU DA MAN!"), but his advice is gender neutral. Not
all of it is humorous storytelling; some of it is downright good
advice aimed at all levels of business. For instance, "Giving
Good Phone," where he shows that a phone voice is important,
but how to get the most of out of one's phone habits is priceless.
The Big Bing is a humorous survival guide for those heading
into that monstrous jungle called the business world. Don't leave
home without it.
