Leaving
Blue Mountains
By
Author Kevin
Hull
Kevin
Hull is a wonderfully talented writer. He is also founding editor
of White Heron, a respected small press journal. The title of his
lovely book of poems comes from his time spent living in the Blue
Ridge Mountains and the life he has experienced since leaving them
to live in other places. His poems, divided into sections, also
seem to be divided into different times or geographical periods
of his life.
I
was touched by three simple lines in the second poem, entitled "Still
Light, Still Shadow." The lines come from a poem entitled "Blue
Mountains:
My mind wanders
In its grooves
A flower blooms.
For
where but the stillness and peacefulness of a wandering mind does
the creativity of talent bloom? So insightful is Kevin Hull that,
while I enjoyed the book as a whole, I found myself wrapped in single
lines, staring off into space, contemplating the truth and wisdom
of his written words
