Open
Inside the Ropes at Bethpage Black
By
John Feinstein

Open, by John Feinstein actually started out pretty funny. He says, "When I first began covering golf in 1993, my vision of the United States Golf Association was pretty similar to the description once offered by Lee Trevino of the typical USGA officer: 'Get yourself a blue blazer and some dandruff and you can be a part of the USGA too.'"

In 2002, the US Open Golf Championship was played at a public facility for the first time in history; Bethpage Black, located on Long Island. John Feinstein has written a well-researched account of how the golf course was groomed for this event, and gives page after page of descriptive dialogue on how the event was put together. No doubt, golfers around the world will enjoy this book.

John Feinstein is the author of bestselling sports books, including A Good Walk Spoiled, The Majors, and The Last Amateurs. He writes for Golf Magazine and is a commentator for NPR and an essayist for CBS.
