Ansel Adams: 400 Photographs

by Ansel Adams
edited by Andrea G. Stillman

This incredibly lovely book is a comprehensive view of a life time of photographic work by the well-known artist Ansel Adams. Most people will know his gorgeous landscapes, many done in the National Parks.

What many may not know is the breadth of work that he actually did over a time period of approximately 60 years. Included in this one book is everything from those magnificient black and white images of natural settings, to portraits of fellow artists (such as Georgia O'Keeffe), and images of buildings and monuments. The notes in the back about the photographs are brief, but give essential information to understanding both Adams and his images.

What's more, this book is a tremendous bargain at $40. Art books of this quality are generally far more expensive.

For anyone who loves black and white photography, nature photography, or just has an appreciation for some of the USA's most outstanding sites, this book is a must have.

For anyone who loves great art, this book is a necessity.
