The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide To Torchwood Series One
by Stephen James Walker
First there was Dr. Who, and the nation held its breath to see if, sixteen years after its demise in 1989
(albeit with a hiccup in 1996) they still liked it. They did, and welcomed it with open arms and so a spin-off
series was concocted, using a character from the best-loved story. This spin-off is Torchwood, and here is
another one of those useful and entertaining unofficial guides to the first season.
Each episode is described in some detail, but first much is made of what went on behind the scenes and the
thinking behind this groundbreaking series. The most fascinating thing is people’s reviews and opinions, veering
mainly from one extreme to the other. These guides are rather awesome in their depth, and we are even told the
exact time each episode went out and the time in minutes and seconds, as well as the usual headings. Quotes,
alien technology, blood and sex (lots of these), an in-depth analysis and those inevitable oops moments are just a
few. Find out how popular each episode was, whether the series was a success overall (it was, and a second season
is planned) and a short section about sites on the Internet. Phew! That really is all there is to know about the
series so far I should think, and it is all in here. |
