Style A to Zoe
The Art of Fashion, Beauty, & Everything Glamour
by Rachel Zoe, Rose Apodaca
If Style A to Zoe doesn’t make you want to lose ten pounds, head out for the shopping mall, and organize
your jewelry chest, then nothing will. Zoe, a Los Angeles stylist for the stars, provides this guide for women
of all sizes, shapes, and budgets who want to add some red-carpet glamour to their everyday lives. She writes,
"Every day is another day and another reason for looking fabulous."
In addition to personal tidbits about her own exciting life and plenty of famous name-dropping (her clients
have included Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, Liv Tyler, and Jennifer Garner), she offers advice - some practical,
some less so - about wearing accessories, shopping for clothes, dressing for parties, packing for trips,
dressing for casual events, styling makeup and hair, and decorating your home to reflect your personal style.
While Zoe’s suggestions to keep a natural year-round tan and always wear five-inch heels work better for
healthy young starlets than middle-aged soccer moms, every woman who cares about her appearance can find at
least a few useful ideas in this book. While the brief text is easy-to-read and often repetitive, this hardcover
book looks much like a glossy magazine. Beautiful color illustrations (usually of Zoe engaging in some glamorous
activity) and dazzling celebrity photographs clearly illustrate what’s going on in the narrative. For example,
when the author describes "The Standard Beauty Pageant Pose," she includes photos of Cameron Diaz and Jennifer
Garner demonstrating the look. Likewise, she provides photographic support for "The Little Black Dress," "Leopard
Accessories," "Sunnies" (stylish sunglasses), and more.
Part memoir, part how-to, Style A to Zoe is an eclectic mix (much like Zoe’s accessories) intended
to bring a little Hollywood glamour to your neighborhood.
