I tap into my Welsh, Scottish, and Irish roots to write Celtic historical/fantasy romances set in Wales and Scotland. My ancestors, the Celts, are a fun bunch. They would paint blue symbols all over thier bodies and fight nude. Their favorite food was boiled pork. I'm crazy about the Celts. I love to read historical and paranormal romances. Books that combine the three genres are my biggest weakness except for chocolate that is. My third biggest weakness is e-bay. My books, The Fox Prince, One Heart One Way, and Danger Is Sweet are all available through http://www.awe-struck.net/ and I give away celtic stuff each month on my newsletter. You can sign up for it at my website.

Jeanette Clinkunbroomer

For the last twenty years, I've made a living as a writer and editor, working primarily for trade journals, also doing some copywriting and public relations work. Since 1994, I've been freelancing as a business journalist and working on my first love -- fiction. My latest novel, published July 2003, is the memoir of a fictional Civil War journalist, Nick Canfield, covering his life both on and off the battlefield. I have a degree in English lit. and am an avid reader of history and historical fiction, love mystery/suspense (any kind), as well as that vast non-specific category called mainstream.

Dennis Collins

I am the author of two published mystery novels, The Unreal McCoy, and the second installment in this series, Turn Left at September. Another mystery, The First Domino, is currently making the rounds of literary agents in hopes of finding representation. There are three other full length projects in various stages of construction as well as plans for several more. My first short story, "Calvin," was a finalist in the Futures Magazine, "Twist," contest. I am also an avid motorcyclist and love any kind of speedsports. I am a big football fan as well. I live on the shore of Lake Huron about 100 miles north of Detroit.

I wrote my first serialized story when I was still in high school. Documenting the very exciting and, sadly, completely fictitious adventures of my friends and I, the tales helped to liven up otherwise dull classes. Even if my teachers didn’t always think so.

These days I write novels. Big ones. Romantic suspense with a psychic twist, set in the fictional town of Oberon, California.

The idea for the Oberon series came to me, appropriately enough, while I was enjoying a latte at an outdoor café in Berkeley. In many ways, Oberon is a celebration of everything weird, wacky and wonderful about my adopted home state.

Janie Franz

I'm a full-time freelance journalist, and I've written for nearly 100 publications in less than a decade, covering a wide range of topics. I've resisted becoming a niche writer, though I am one, but in several vastly different areas: music, wine, weddings, environmental issues, yoga / meditation / stress reduction, and asphalt paving. I have taught workshops on writing, the music business, and stress.

I wrote Freelance Writing: It's a Business, Stupid! to counter the naysayers who thought writing was a hobby and to help new writers take ownership of their writing dreams. I taught yoga for several years and wrote Relaxation Techniques for Children and Relaxation Techniques for Adults to help my students learn to manage stress.

With Texas wedding DJ, Bill Cox, I co-authored The Ultimate Wedding Reception Book and The Ultimate Wedding Ceremony Book (We have more titles coming.)

I'm married to a singer/songwriter who works for the state of North Dakota. We have two grown children: a daughter who is an artist and married to an animator, and a son who is the executive chef of a high-end martini bistro and is a musician.

I have a BA in anthropology with a concentration in English. I've edited novels, scientific journal articles, and magazine and newspaper features. I've also been a radio announcer and a booking agent for a touring band.

I'm currently working on a fantasy novel and several short stories.

To the world I'm a man, To myself I'm a writer whose past endeavors are: A collection of souvenir booklets, a trilogy of spiritual poems, three published "whodunit" novels and am presently working on a non-fiction Chicago Gangster Chronicle (1833-1983).

My whodunit novels are: The Chicago Ripper, first in a series of "whodunits" introducing a female detective with the persona of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes; Chicago's Jack, a sadistic tale caused by a twist of unjust fate that befalls upon a person in the wrong place at the wrong time; and She's Naked and Dead, a character driven story relating the horrifying events of two completely unrelated complex series of murders in Chicago amid the 1960's.

Carolyn Howard-Johnson

Let me introduce myself. As the "Back to Literature" columnist for MyShelf, I am their literary geek. But I'm also a marketing and publicity guru so that puts me somewhere in the middle of most readers' scales for accessibility.

My first novel, This is the Place, won eight awards. My second book, Harkening: A Collection of Stories Remembered, has won three. My fiction, nonfiction and poems have appeared in national magazines, anthologies and review journals. I love to speak on Utah's culture, tolerance and other subjects related to my "serious" fiction and I have appeared on TV and hundreds of radio stations nationwide.

This fall I will be teaching my first course for UCLA's Writers' Program (Watch for it in their Extension Catalog!) and my next book, The Frugal Book Promoter: How to do What Your Publisher Won't, will be used as a text for that course.

I love to travel to places where I can plunk down and take my time seeing the sights and writing. I've studied writing at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, UK: Herzen University in St. Petersburg, RU; and Charles University in Prague.

It admit to loving marketing almost as much as writing. Come by my site and leave a note in my guest book. I answer every one.

My first written romance was a still-unfinished Elizabethan-era novel. When I became interested in science fiction, I loved passion in science fiction (Ben Bova, Ursula K. LeGuin, "Star Trek," Neal Stephenson, Ray Bradbury). My first published book was a sexy art-house romance, Butterfly Wings: A Love Story, that I've adapted to a screenplay. My second book, Christmas Cookies Are for Giving, with Mimi Cummins, is due from Tyr Publishing September 2003. I've written the autobiography of two-time Nobel Prize nominee Dr. Rupert Perrin. I celebrate romance in my business Poems For You and won first prize twice in the Blue Mountain Arts Tri-Annual Poetry Competition, the second time beating out 50,000 entries.

I'm tiptoeing into my mid 50s now, but have been writing since age 18. Have lived in Florida, S.C., and Arizona. As a reviewer, I've interviewed most of the major authors for XM Satellite radio, Audiobook Cafe, and Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores. Have been a judge in the Audie awards for seven years, and am also audiobook reviewer for Land Line trucking magazine, which is the premiere magazine for long-haul truckers.

Novels include Postmarked for Death, (a small press hardcover that was recorded by the legendary Frank Muller as Postal.), Awakening Storm (recorded by Barrett Whitener for Blackstone), Fame Island (recorded by Emmy winning actor Kristoffer Tabori), and Geezer, (a hardcover from Five Star.) People can sample three of these four (for free) in ebook format by going to Fictionwise.com, and clicking on "Free Ebooks" at the top, and then on "Ghost Rider. I also have two CDs of stories, Tall Tales for the Road and Oscar's Hijack.) Am currently working on a new novel, and while I don't have a specific author site up yet, I've picked up the web domain JustSayNoWay.com, and plan to develop it more in the future. So bookmark it, and check it out, and until then, as #6 says in The Prisoner, "be seeing you." (Or should I say, "be hearing you?")

Nancy Arant Williams

Like most of you, I've always loved books. I was one of those kids who got in trouble, from an early age, for reading under the covers after lights out.

I always dreamed of writing a book, but life was just too full to work it in, until we moved to Missouri from Nebraska, the only other home I'd ever known. Since then, three years ago to be exact, I have found the hilly, wooded isolation of the Missouri Ozarks to be the perfect inspiration for writing.

My husband and I host a bed and breakfast, The Nestle Down Inn, on twenty-three acres of woods and a private lake, in the kind of quiet, natural setting most folks only dream about. And I'm grateful to God for the privilege.

With my children grown and living far away, I have nothing but time to devote to my craft. In the past three years, I've completed over twenty books, have four in print, and contracts for fifteen more, all inspirational romantic suspense. And at this point in time, I can truly say-- I've finally figured out what I want to do when I grow up. See my website for book excerpts, as well as helps for beginning writers at my website.
