Sydney Teague has been dealt a lot of hard blows in the last couple of months. Her ability to trust and forgive has been taken from her and all she wants is to get away for a while. She decides to go the South Carolina beach where her family owns a condo. The beach is her haven and when she gets there she is distressed to hear a corporation is trying to buy out the condos to build on the site. Just when Sydney thinks things couldn't get any worse, they do. After a brute of a man manhandles her she discovers a dead body.

After the police come and check out the scene, they inform her there was never a body. Sydney becomes convinced of a foul plot and if she doesn't figure out what is going on the beach won't be her haven, it will become her grave!

I really enjoyed this book. Voices in the Sand is a wonderful addition to the Sydney Teague series. Anne Underwood Grant removes Sydney from her usual setting yet this book is just as strong, if not stronger than the previous ones.

You can tell Grant has done her research by the vivid descriptions she gives us of the fishing and the beach. The words that she chooses to use actually made me feel like I was there. The only problem I had with the book was there was a little too much fishing explanation. Grant introduces a new character named O.C. Loud, who I think readers should keep an eye on. He is intensely engaging. With each book Grant only gets better and I recommend her to any fan.
