Almost everyone has
hurtful things in their past they would rather forget. Andrea "Blaize"
McCue definitely falls into this category but, unlike other people, she
does not have the luxury of being able to forget. When her boss asks her
to talk to her niece about a recent date rape, it brings Blaize back to
the past in a most uncomfortable way. However, Blaize can't turn the young
girl away, remembering how a counselor saved her when she needed saving.
Blaize is encouraged at the end of their session when Connie walks away
feeling better.
Less than twenty-four
hours later, Blaize gets word that Connie is missing. As a favor to her
boss, Blaize dusts off her private investigator's license and jumps back
into that world to search for Connie. Unfortunately, she isn't in time
to stop the worst from happening and feels tremendous guilt, which only
intensifies when an old school friend is murdered just days after telling
Blaize about threatening notes she had been receiving. Blaize knows she
must solve these cases before they eat her alive.
Blaize of Glory is an
intense story. Blaize McCue is not a character I was able to feel close
to, but one I wanted to keep reading about because of her determination
to stick things out, no matter how bad they got. Her resolve to set things
right makes her enormously unique and allowed me to learn more about her.
I saw her as a real person with more in her head than witty quips and
boyfriends. I think Louise Crawford will go far with this character, and
I hope this series lasts a long time.
