Tension is crackling through the Minneapolis Police Department after the death of Internal Affairs cop Andy Fallon, found hanging in his home with one word scrawled across the mirror, "Sorry".  All signs point to suicide or an accident, but when Homicide detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska are sent in to investigate, old memories will resurface, tension will mount, and the death toll will rise. As the hardened detective Kovac and his acerbic, tough-as-nails partner, Liska, begin to delve into the Fallon case, there are twists and turns aplenty to keep them on their toes. Did Andy kill himself after being rejected by his father for being gay? Was it just an accident? Or did Andy's death have something to do with his work- a case about the murder of a gay cop, or a case from twenty years ago involving his own father?

Brilliant characterization lends a jarringly real aspect to the story as we see Kovac and Liska for who they are: two world-weary souls, each dragging a sack of emotional baggage and hurt behind them, all the while trying to make the world a better place. A difficult task when faced with a cop's death that just doesn't make sense and reeks of something rotten. Tami Hoag provides thrills, chills, and a fast paced, adrenaline inducing roller coaster ride of suspense. Curiosity will keep the pages turning, and just when you think you've figured out whodunit, the explosive ending will strike and you won't know what hit you.
