Alex Winston has inherited a wonderful old inn in the Blue Ridge Mountains
of North Carolina.  It is a full sized, working lighthouse located hundreds of miles from the sea. There is an old history that goes with it about how it came to be there.

Shortly after the opening of the book one of Alex's customers and dear friends is found murdered. Reg was a gentleman that had been coming to the inn for years.   This is exactly what Alex did not need for the flagging business

The murder has led to the exit of his only staff, a maid that was a bit on the weepy side. However she has the decency to send in her cousin. Elise turns out to be a beautiful young woman and competent helper who is more than capable of handling the situation.

The local sheriff   calls for help from the state police. Soon after this, another of Alex's guest is injured. The state police see no connection but Alex has to wonder. Who is behind all these happenings? Was it someone who had a personal grudge against the first victim or is it someone wanting the inn for themselves?

Alex feels he must unravel this mystery for himself. If not he may have to lose his dream of running the inn as a successful business just like his father did for many years.

I enjoyed the book. It was set in an area close to where I live. The mountain scenery, the local tourist areas and the small town flavor gave it great much appeal.
