Talba Wallis is a poet extraordinaire and a computer whiz. Although she loves both, they aren't offering her the excitement that she craves, so when she sees an ad in the newspaper looking for a hotshot, she knows that she has struck gold. When Talba gets to the agency she finds Eddie Valentine, a private detective who is flabbergasted at the thought of hiring a young, black woman. Luckily for both of them, Talba is hired and from there craziness ensues. Aziza Scott comes to Talba and Eddie with the request that they find the man who molested her fourteen- year old daughter. As Talba digs deeper and deeper into the case, little does she realize she might just be digging her own grave.

This is the first in a new series by Julie Smith and I liked it much better than her previous series. This book read differently, there was hardly any mention of New Orleans other than the fact that the book takes place there. Usually Smith makes the setting an extra character, but not in this book. I also liked Talba a lot. She is only twenty- three and although she is young, she realizes it. She knows that she has a lot more to learn and revels in it.
