Pat Gallagher, a 50-year-old New Orleans jazz cornet player, has a penchant for attracting trouble. In this third story, he still plays at Halliday's, where his boss, Shorty, has a new girl friend. Lucy Nivens is a dancer in a strip bar, "Les Jolies Blondes," and a hooker on the side. When some of Gallagher's friends tell him about Lucy's sideline occupation, he goes to Lucy to see if Shorty knows about it. Lucy tells him she has gotten out of the hooking business.

When Lucy winds up dead, Shorty is the prime suspect. In the process, of trying to clear Shorty's name, Gallagher finds out that Lucy wasn't the only stripper-cum-hooker to be murdered recently. All of them have died when their abdomens were ripped open. On each victim, one word was written above her left breast.

Gallagher then gets involved with the police, and his life takes a turn for the worse. Still, he tries to stay on the sidelines until the Stripper Ripper targets his own girl friend, Merlie Comineau, and the race to identify this scum bag becomes personal.

Juicy Watusi is a perfect book to read on one of those sleepless nights. It won't make you sleep, but it will make the long hours more entertaining, because you won't be able to put the book down. This story has no boring parts, no place where you want to take a break. Fortunately, it is a paperback, and easily portable. Enjoy!
