A great mystery story about how a woman, Stefanie Canfield, is framed for torching a lumber mill and killing her ex-husband's new fiancée. Stefanie is accused of arson when the lumber mill that was a major part of her family history goes up in flames. Stefanie has to overcome the issues of her ex-husband finding a new wife (who happens to have her own history) dealing with the fact that she has to make her life successful on her own, and being arrested for arson and murder. Her faith in God is also wavering until an old childhood friend, an insurance inspector hired to investigate the lumber mill fire, reappears in her life.

This is a well-written story that is realistic and humorous in its storyline. The plotline and character development are well done. Whirlpool keeps the reader interested and wanting to find out if Stefanie survives her ordeals. Ms. McCourtney shows the importance of having faith in a higher being without its overpowering the story. This is a fast-paced book that does not drag, a must for anyone who likes cozy mysteries mixed with subtle romance.
