The
Anniversary
By Amy Gutman
Steven
Gage was a charming, handsome and charismatic man - and a terrible
and sadistic serial killer. His crimes were quite horrific with
a suspected 100 victims, and which affected the lives of many more
people. A simple mistake brought about his capture. Fortunately,
justice was served. He stood trial and, after a length of time on
Death Row, was executed. Things could get back to normal for the
survivors. Or so you would think.
Five
years have passed and it is the anniversary of Steven's execution
date. Three of the women most involved in Stevens's case all have
received mysterious letters stating, "Happy Anniversary, I
have not forgotten you!"
Who
among Stevens's friends and family cared enough about him to attempt
to revenge his death? His ex-girlfriend, the former attorney who
helped asked for a retrial, and the true crime writer who wrote
his story all have to wonder who is stalking them. These women have
moved on and have reestablished their life. They are not too eager
to relive and, in some case, reveal this part of their lives again.
Soon everyone is a suspect in the escalating reign of terror that
this madman has begun.
This
is my first book by Amy Gutman but not my last. The story moved
along, well paced and kept my attention. I suspected several different
people but that is the way the author was leading me. I did suspect
the true killer about half way through and was quite satisfied with
the conclusion that revealed him.
