Body
Wave
A Bad
Hair Day Mystery
By
Nancy J. Cohen
Marla
Shore, owner of the Cut 'n Dye Beauty Salon, finds herself in the
middle of murder - again. This time her ex-husband, Stanley Kaufman,
has been accused of murdering his new wife. Kimberly Kaufman's body
is discovered on the floor of their home. The only other person
in the house is Stanley, and there are no signs of a break-in. Stanley's
future looks a little "hairy," but in desperation he calls
upon Marla for help. He asks her to find the real murderer in exchange
for some land they own jointly. Marla wants Stanley "out of
her hair" for good, so she agrees. Even though Stanley appears
to be guilty, Marla truly believes that someone else murdered Kimberly,
so she sets out to uncover a killer.
This
time, Lieutenant Dalton Vail doesn't tell Marla to stay out of police
business. He knows she has a knack for detection; besides, he's
falling in love with her. Together, they investigate the murder.
Vail still thinks Stanley is guilty, but is willing to let Marla
go undercover as a nurse in a home owned by Kimberly's family. Does
someone there have a motive for killing Kim? There's more going
on in the Pearl mansion than meets the eye and Marla is smack dab
in the middle of secrets, deceit, and murder.
This
latest offering in the Bad Hair Day series is well-written
and fast paced. The relationships between Marla, Vail, his daughter,
and Marla's mother are becoming stronger and more interesting and
Ms. Cohen's "hair raising" stories are intriguing. Body
Wave is a fast, enjoyable read. You won't be disappointed!
