Don't
Take Any Wooden Nickels
The Million Dollar Mysteries
By Mindy
Starns Clark
Callie
Webber is recently widowed. She seeks solace in taking canoe trips
on Chesapeake Bay and doing volunteer work with Advancing Attire,
a church organization that provides quality clothes to women who
want to enter the job market but can't afford to buy their own.
She also investigates not-for-profit companies who desire to support
the organization.
Callie
becomes involved with a young woman, Shayna, who is fresh from drug
rehabilitation and comes to Advancing Attire for help. When her
boyfriend's body is found in the trunk of her car, Shayna is charged
with murder and appeals to Callie for help. While investigating,
Callie becomes perilously involved in deceptions and international
intrigue.
This
is a well-written, fast paced book, full of suspense, with a likeable
cast of characters. It is. The dialogue sounds conversational and
real. Callie Webber is a strong woman with a faith which sustains
her through her travails. This is the first of the Million Dollar
Mysteries. If the subsequent ones in this series are as excellent
as this one, they will be a welcome addition to the genre.
