The
Protector
By David
Morrell
Corbin Bernsen (Reader)
High
techs, special op, double dealing suspense at its best.
With
his last two novels, Author David Morrell found his niche and made
a mark in the book world as a writer of thrilling suspense (The
Fifth Profession and The Brotherhood of the Rose).
In Morrell's
latest novel of suspense, The Protector, a former Delta Force
officer named Cavanaugh is assigned to protect a scientist named
Prescott. Cavanaugh who swears he has had enough while on vacation
with his wife, Jamie. So, what happens when his next job comes up?
He takes it, of course, and, surprisingly, his wife accepts the
interruption of their holiday. Later he calls on her to help him
get a scientist to safety. Eventually, Jamie ends up in danger and
Cavanaugh has to work hard and fast to save her.
The
scientist Cavanaugh is protecting has invented a powerful hormone,
and some unethical people want it. All Cavanaugh wants to do is
his job, but that's a little hard when you don't know who to trust,
and the man you are trying to protect turns on you as well.
As the
action-packed storyline moves, the twists and turns are nonstop--just
when you think you have it figured out, something or someone comes
along and shows you otherwise. If you like Tom Clancy type reads,
you will enjoy The Protector.
Narrator
of the audio book is actor Corbin Bernsen, best known for his work
on the TV show L.A. Law. The narrator's deep, gruff voice
resonates with Cavanaugh's personality and echo's the suspense of
each action-packed episode in the novel. The Protector is
a good read, and an even better listen.
