Constable’s
Apprehension
By Laurie Moore
After
reading the second of Ms. Moore’s series, I will definitely
be looking for the first of these humerous, suspense filled novels.
Constable
Jinx Porter has had a bad day—getting shot will do that for
you, but his day and night get worse when someone tries to kill
his hospital roommate, Sid, after returning from a mistaken trip
to the morgue, informs Jinx that he and not Sid was the intended
victim.
Back
at work in Fort Worth, Jinx soon discovers that someone really is
out to ruin his career and to put him six feet under. When Raven,
his ex-partner/lover, returns to serve as a reserve deputy, several
incidents and accidents point to her as the likely suspect.
Raven
has problems of her own; a cousin who has run amuck and holds her
hostage in her own home for several days is only one of her headaches.
Several of the men from her past want her to make a commitment but
she can’t. Her heart is still pining for Jinx, but after he
points the proverbial finger in her direction for several bombings
at his home and the office, she wonders what she ever saw in the
man.
Constable’s
Apprehension abounds with male lingo and sexual witticisms,
as well as humor and confused love, which make it a good read for
women. Ms. Moore leaves nothing to chance. She clues you in on the
smallest details of who-dun-it and why before she pens her last
word. |
